Microwave Pyrolysis System – Transforming Biomass into Clean Energy and High-Value Biochar!
Operating at the Taiwan demo site, the 12kW high-temperature (800–1000°C) and 36kW medium-temperature (400–500°C) microwave pyrolysis systems convert biomass and agricultural waste into high-value solid and gaseous outputs. On the energy front, the combustible biogas (H2, CO, and CH4) yields an additional 1 kWh of electricity per kilogram of feedstock, generating 50 kWh/h (12kW system) and 150 kWh/h (36kW system) through integrated turbo-generator units to power self-sustaining biomass microgrids. On the material front, medium-temperature pyrolysis yields amorphous biochar that enhances agricultural soil—improving water and fertilizer retention, balancing pH, and fostering microbial habitats—while also serving as animal feed additives, low-carbon steelmaking coke substitutes, and certified carbon-sink assets under the EBC standard for tradable carbon credits. Meanwhile, high-temperature secondary carbonization at 900°C produces crystalline graphite-like and graphene materials alongside porous biochar, unlocking strategic applications in environmental air/water purification, supercapacitor energy storage, and thermal interface materials (TIMs) for AI-era heat dissipation—truly turning agricultural waste into high-value "black gold" within a closed-loop circular economy. |
